I've been looking forward to the Weird Al concert for a long time
but it was a bit of a disappointment
The concert is scheduled to start at 8pm
I left the house at 6pm, assuming I'd get there at 7pm
When I got close to Pine Knob, there was a mile backup on the freeway, and another mile backup on the road to it
Once I got off the freeway, I decided to park my car and walk the rest of the way
Unfortunately, I decided to dress a little fancy in my Vans shoes
I was also wearing a hawaiian shirt that I've been saving for this occasion
Those shoes were NOT made for walking, and I ended up with blisters on my feet
I bypassed the parking fee, and bought my ticket
I was a bit annoyed that they didn't print me a ticket and sent a link to my phone
I got inside just after 8pm
I missed the opening act, Puddles Pity Party, while waiting in line to buy souveniers, a shirt and a hat
I was fine with a lawn ticket
until I found the ENTIRE area occupied
I had to sit all the way in the back
I had never seen the venue this full before
I guess Weird Al has gotten more popular recently
Which makes my interests feel less special
I could barely see him on stage
Fortunately, they had big screens displaying the show
I've gone to lots of Weird Al concerts in the past
I can definitely feel the decrease in energy on the stage
He isn't jumping around as much as he used to

Took the boat out to the lake again
I decided to attach my nautical flags to the sail
I think every body assumes they're just for decoration
and not that they spell out SHOWMEYOURBOOBS

Another full weekend of sailing
It started raining for a bit, just as I got back to shore

When I first hear the term “involuntary celibate"
I thought, "yeah, i'm an incel"
but unlike the actual incels, I put the blame on myself instead of others

Two examples of high school naughtiness . . .
At a book fair, where you buy used books, I bought a dirty joke book
It had a lot of dick and cunt jokes and adult comics
I figured mom would find it and throw it away
So I decided to share it with the other kids at school
I pulled the individual pages out of the book
and stayed after school
I inserted one page into each band hallway locker
The next morning everybody got a shock to get their own piece of adult humor
I got to school after everybody else and played dumb
Most people had thrown their page away, which was disappointing
I remember Mr Miller saying that he had never seen anything like this happen before

"when you're holding a hammer, everything looks like a nail"
'when you're holding a screw driver, everything needs to be dismantled'
The locker doors had these weird triangle screws holding everything together
but I managed to use a normal screw driver to loosen the door on one of the lockers
I was so proud of myself that I handed the locker door to a girl and said "what better way to say 'i love you' than with the gift of a locker door" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVrRfiG6C3E
Mr Miller was pissed when he found out
I don't know how I didn't get in trouble for that

I cleaned the green gunk off the outside of the house
I'm pretty sure the cleaning solution is just some bleach
So next time I'll just fill the sprayer with bleach

I noticed that some games had been installed on my phone
I got pissed, because I don't like my devices doing things that I didn't tell it to do
The internet wasn't helpful in figuring out how these apps got installed
so I spent some time going through the list of apps installed on my phone, learning what they did, and if I could uninstall them

I had planned to spend the whole weekend sailing again
but when I got to the park gate, the guy warned that the beach was closed to e-coli
It started raining just as I got there
I had planned on putting my boat together and immediately getting in the water
but the wind was moving to crazily to sail properly
I decided to get back in the car and wait out the rain
There was almost no body at the party area
The wind was blowing out of the south, which made it easy to traverse the whole lake
I visited the other party area on the west side of the lake

I finally got around to deep cleaning the kitchen
I removed everything except the stove and fridge
I started cleaning from the top down
I discovered the shelves were also painted with latex paint
and spent too much time peeling it off the shelves
It's a hot summer day, so I wasn't wearing any clothes
I had to be careful my naked ass wasn't viewable from outside
I think sweeping picked up a lot more dirt than vacuuming did
A lot of my towels are now stained with black gunk
The floor was so filthy that it turned the bottom of my feet black
I covered the floor in soap and gave it a scrubbing
I recovered the shelves in shelf paper
It'll take me a couple of days to move all my stuff back in the kitchen
Now that the place is clean, it kills me to see a crumb fall on the floor

I've gone days without seeing another human
I've gone weeks without speaking to another human
I've gone months without touching another human
I've gone decades without having a sexual encounter with another human

I woke up a bit later than I wanted to and started packing up the car
I hadn't created a checklist specifically for this trip
so I just used all of my other "camping" lists
It took me all morning to get ready, and I didn't forget anything
I left the house at about noon
It's about 360 miles to the camp grounds on Lake Superior
It was a standard drive right up I75
I'd done the drive plenty of times before to go to Mackinac Island
but this time I was going past that over the Mackinac bridge
I stopped in St Ignace to fill up on gas
After that this was the furthest into the Upper Pennisula that I have ever been
It took me a while to get my GPS to understand where I wanted to go
and the further up you go , the less cell phone service there is
I found the Lake Superior State Campground at the end of a very long dirt road
I was disappointed to discover that all eighteen spots were filled
(later i would consider myself lucky to not get a spot there)
I asked a guy walking his dog if there were any other campgrounds near by
He recommended the Blind Sucker Campgrounds just a mile away
I sucured a camping spot after asking some other people how to pay and fill out the form
Apparently, sticking $20 into the green post is the old way of paying for a campsite
I set up my tent, got dinner cooking, and started a small fire
I noticed that, because I was at a higher latitude, sunset happened a bit later than in the Detroit area
And of course with no city lights it got super dark
I had to keep my "body armor" on the whole night, to protect myself from the bugs and the not-warm weather
To keep myself entertained, I got caught up some reading I hadn't made time for
I hadn't noticed until next morning, that mayflies were attracted to the light of the laptop, and died when I closed my laptop lid
While sleeping, I kept getting awoken by the loud slamming of the toilet door
But one "clunking" noise got my attention more than the other sounds
I had forgotten to put all of my food away, and had attracted a chipmunk
I jumped out of bed and secured everything inside of the HomeDepot buckets

After breakfast, I waited until after 12pm to go to the lake
The winds usually get stronger in the afternoon
I wanted a campsite right on Lake Superior so I could put my sailboat right in the water
I asked a worker if he knew of any place I could park my car and walk my boat into the water
He said there was a small spot called Perry's Landing a few hundred feet away
I found it after driving over a path
The moment I pulled up, my car was swarmed by black biting flies
They would not let go of my boat, no matter how much bug spray I hit them with
This was why I felt lucky to not be at the Lake Superior campground
Annie warned me that Lake Superior had waves like the ocean
but it was realitively calm
I expect it gets choppier when a strong wind comes out of the north
I can't say which way the wind was blowing today
because it was blowing in ALL directions
It started by alternating south and west
which got me away from shore and towards the people that were camping at the Lake Superior campground
I wanted to head back and sail along the shore as I waved to the people on the beach
but the wind started blowing out of the north and east
which pushed me into the shore and mad me sail into the wind
I wanted to spend more time on the water
but between the winds fighting each other
and the biting flies finding me even out in the middle of the lake
I decided to cut it short
Officially, I had sailed my boat in Lake Superior, and that's all that I drove up here for
Now I just need to drive out to Lake Ontario, and I can say I've sailed in all five great lakes
I put my boat back up on my car
Then went back to play on the beach
Somebody had started laying out the stones to mark the way to the path to the parking lot
I decided to continue the idea my shifting the drift wood around
Once the other people left, I had a full mile of beach to myself
I dunked my head in the water
I obiviously hadn't expected the water to be warm
but it wasn't literally freezing either
The cold seemed to make my muscles ache
I had some naked time, and got cleaned up with the shampoo I brought
I wanted to spend more time on the beach, but I noticed storm clouds coming in
I put my 'body armor' back on and went back to camp
It was still early in the afternoon, so I had a nap
It started to rain, so I covered the tent with the other tarp
I keep forgetting to use the ScotchGuard to help water proof the tent
Once it stopped raining, I made food, read some more, and started another small fire
While sleeping, I had some weird dream
I woke up to the pitch black inside my tent and had a moment of disorientation
I had forgotten where I was and why I was there

Today is the day to explore some of the Upper Peninsula
I quickly made breakfast (but didnt immediately eat it) and packed up the car
The campgrounds did have toilets and showers
but for some reason, I didn't feel comfortable using them
However, I did feel comfortable going back to the beach, digging a hole, and pooping in it, all the while trying not to get bit by the flies
Then I took a thorough bath in the lake

I drove to Tahquamenon Falls
There are two sets of falls, upper and lower
I stopped at the lower falls first
They are a series of smaller falls
I noticed that the earth under the water was actually hard rock
I wondered why that was until I realized that if it was softer earth, it would have been washed away by the river, and there wouldn't be falls here at all
There's a walking path around the falls
It took me a while to realize that we were standing on an island in the river and the falls are on both sides of the island
The water is oddly reddish
I thought it was because of iron in the water
but it's actually because the trees are leaking tannin into the water
I wish I had known you could swim in the water
I would have worn my kilt
Instead, I took off my shoes and rolled up my pant legs to wade in the water
Of course, I stepped into a deep hole and got my pants soaked
The upper falls were less exciting
It's one much larger fall that you can't get close to
Next time I come up here, I'm going to camp at the Tahquamenon Falls campground and spend a lot of time playing in the water

Next, I drove to the very north end of I75 freeway and visited Sault Ste Marie
After making sure I didn't going into Canada, I drove around the city
There's nothing too exciting in the city
It's a college town, so there's a lot catering to that
And there's a lot of marinas and boating stuff
I'm not sure why, but there's a large campground on in the middle of the city on the water

Driving back down I75, it felt a little like falling down hill
I stopped in Mackinac city to fill up on gas
It's saturday afternoon, and the tourist area is very busy
I happened upon a good parking spot, and decided to walk around a bit
I bought some fudge, and window shopped
It's been a long time since I've been here, but it feels a lot like the wharf area of San Francisco
It's just a bunch of tourist souvenier shops
I didn't get home until almost midnight

I spent the day cleaning up and recovering from my trip
I think I should take an extra day every time I go on vacation

I woke up this morning with a numb arm
It felt a bit like I had slept on my arm all night
but there was no 'pins and needles'
I had lost my fine motor control
I started getting worried when it didn't immediately go away
After a couple of hours, it went back to normal

I waterproofed my tent
I sprayed ScotchGuard on the top part
