Packing the car took a little longer than it needed to
Hungry Howies gave me a coupon for a free pizza, so I decided on cold pizza for dinner, rather than fussing with vegetables and rice
I decided to take I96 to 23 to I75 , but there was so much traffic that I had to stop because the car was overheating
I did a little bit of party hopping before it got dark

I bought a Sanders 'bumpy cake' for my birthday cake and ate half of it

Near the end, there was a tree branch that was sucking people under and cutting them in half

Before leaving, I went to the River View campground and set up my reservation for next year

I've been extra lethargic this summer, by sleeping, playing games, and re-reading books

from doing my taxes, to cleaning the dirt off the tent after camping
Joel asked me to go out of state to do some renewals
This time it was Florida
I've learned that these trips aren't any kind of a vacation
Just back and forth from the hotel to the office
I might have said yes, until I learned it was a four week job, the entire month of September
For me, that is way to long to leave my house unprotected
As I was discussing it with Joel, I said that somebody else is going to have to pay for and arrange the flight, hotel, and car
because he does not pay me enough for me to pre-pay a month long trip to Miami, and hope that I get reimbursed afterwards
In the end, I told him to check with everybody else first, and if he absolutely cannot find anybody, then I'll help with this

Recent inflation has increased the price of everything
and I keep feeling sticker-shock when grocery shopping

Annie arranged a party at her place (actually, it's a rental house a few houses down)

The house has a metal bath tub, and I enjoy a long bath
Normally, I let the tub fill up using the showerhead
It typically takes forty minutes to fill up
which makes for a long relaxing bath
but I can't afford that amount of time in the morning
Today, for whatever reason, I took the showerhead off the hose, and let the water run out that way
I probably shouldn't have been surprised by how much quicker the tub filled up
but the process wasn't nearly as relaxing
because the water was jetting out of the hose, causing splashing
and I got burned by the hot water much more easily
I went to the Carhartt store in Detroit and bought new boots
They cost $160
which is the most I've ever spent on shoes
but I expect them to last a long time
much longer than the cheaper Sketchers I usually get
I think I had my first recognized case of 'lucid dreaming'
There was a group of women walking by wearing short skirts
and something in my head said "go ahead and play with them, nothing matters in a dream"

I like to drink Mike's Hard Lemonade when out on my boat

8% instead of 5% alcohol
The wind wasn't blowing very hard so I took me a long time to cross the lake
There were a lot more people in the party area today
Either because people are trying to have as much fun as possible before summer ends
or because gas prices aren't so high any more
It was after 7pm when I got back to my car
Labor Day weekend sailing
The weather forcast was predicting only 8mph winds
so I was worried that there wouldn't enough wind
but it picked up, and I had a good time
There were plenty of people on the water
but few of them waved, and didn't reinforce my idea that I was the "coolest guy on the lake"
